Description

The CIMA Awards 2017 aimed to discover and promote talent in visual arts in India, bridging the gap between urban and semi-urban areas. It expanded beyond visual arts to include other creative disciplines such as design, architecture, cinema, performance art and included symposia, talks, conversations, and workshops, conducted by renowned speakers on diverse topics. The festival provided a comprehensive overview of contemporary visual language and cultural expression. It transformed Kolkata into a live art gallery, showcasing exhibitions, performances, and collaborations with local institutions, establishing itself as a major platform for artists, scholars, and creative minds from around the world.

The event was an open invitation to all the artists across the country and received an overwhelming response. The catalogue features full colour plates of the works of the artists selected by the preliminary jury consisting of experts in art and culture.
