The CIMA Awards 2022, the 4th edition of the national awards programme, overcame the challenges posed by the pandemic to showcase the resilience and creativity of artists from across India. With nearly 900 applicants, the dedicated 10-member preliminary jury meticulously selected over 180 finalists. The exhibition, held at the iconic Gem cinema and CIMA Gallery in Kolkata, featured a diverse range of artworks, including paintings, sculptures, graphics, installations, and digital and new media art, many of which reflected the tumultuous times. The CIMA Awards, known for its transparent and forward-looking evaluation process, serves as a significant platform for emerging talent, introducing them to national and international audiences and opening doors to galleries, institutions, and residencies.
