A printmaker and teacher, Haren Das is best known for his woodcut prints both in colour and black and white. Educated by Ramendranath Chakraborty at the Government School of Art, Calcutta, Das developed his original style based on using light and shade. An extremely skilful artist Haren Das explored the art of printing with fine lines and against rural Bengali setting. His works became appreciated particularly in Bengal.
